Transmission Computer Scanning & Road Testing in Stockbridge, GA

Learn how transmission trouble-code scanning and safe road testing help TECHSPRO evaluate shifting concerns in Stockbridge, GA.

What a transmission computer scan tells us

A computer scan reads stored electronic trouble codes. Those codes help identify an affected system or condition, but a code alone does not always identify the exact failed part.

Why road testing matters

When the vehicle can be driven safely, a road test helps us observe shifting behavior and compare it with the symptoms you describe. Tell us when the concern occurs, such as when the vehicle is cold, warm or changing gears.

How these checks fit into diagnosis

We use scan results and road-test observations alongside fluid level and condition checks, visual inspection and other relevant findings. Scanning and road testing are diagnostic steps; they do not repair a mechanical, hydraulic or electronic problem.

What the initial inspection includes

For qualifying vehicles, the complimentary initial transmission inspection includes a computer scan, fluid level and condition review, a road test when safe, and a visual inspection. Additional testing, disassembly, fluids, parts and repairs are not included.

Plan your evaluation

Have your vehicle year, make, model, mileage and symptoms ready. We explain the findings and recommended next step. Any charge for additional testing or disassembly is explained before proceeding.

HELP US REPRODUCE IT

Notes that make the road test count.

A road test is most useful when we know what to look for. Before your visit, note when the problem happens and what you feel or hear.

When it happens

Cold start or after warming up, pulling away, at highway speed, or while shifting between particular gears.

What you notice

Slipping, hard or delayed shifts, unusual noises, a shudder, fluid under the vehicle, or a check engine or transmission warning light.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Computer scan and road test questions

Is the computer scan free?

For qualifying vehicles, the complimentary initial transmission inspection includes a computer scan, a fluid level and condition review, a road test when safe, and a visual inspection. Additional testing, disassembly, fluids, parts and repairs are not included, and any charge is explained before we proceed.

Can a store code reader do the same thing?

A code reader shows stored codes, which are a starting point. Codes alone do not always identify the exact failed part, so we combine them with a road test, fluid checks and inspection before recommending a repair.

My check engine light is on. Should I come in?

Call and describe how the vehicle is driving. If it is slipping, overheating or failing to engage, ask us what to do before driving farther.

Will you road test my vehicle every time?

No. Road testing is performed only when the vehicle can be driven safely.
