START WITH THE FINDINGS
A slipping transmission needs a diagnosis first.
Slipping, shuddering or delayed shifting does not tell us, by itself, which part has failed. A fluid service or torque converter replacement is not a universal fix for internal transmission wear. We evaluate the concern before recommending maintenance, a targeted repair, rebuilding or replacement.
If your vehicle loses drive, leaks heavily or feels unsafe, stop driving and call us about the next step. Continuing to drive may cause further damage.

WHICH OPTION MAY FIT?
Repair, rebuild or replace?
A transmission problem may call for a repair, a rebuild, or a replacement. Here is what each option means. We can help you choose after we inspect your vehicle.
REPAIR
Repair a diagnosed fault.
A targeted repair addresses a specific fault in the transmission or a related system. It may involve repairing or replacing the affected part while keeping the existing transmission in service.

Rebuild your existing transmission.
We remove and disassemble the transmission so its internal parts can be inspected. Worn or damaged areas are repaired or replaced as needed, then the unit is reassembled, reinstalled and tested.
Learn about transmission rebuilds →REPLACEMENT
Install a replacement transmission.
We remove the current unit and install another transmission assembly. Depending on the vehicle and availability, the replacement may be remanufactured or used; the unit’s condition and warranty depend on its source.

COMPARE THE WORK
Choose based on what your vehicle needs.
We help you consider the transmission's condition, how you use the vehicle and how long you plan to keep it. A rebuild or replacement is not automatically the right answer for every concern.
What work is involved?
Compare the service scope, removal and installation, vehicle-specific fluid and any required setup or programming.
What coverage applies?
Review covered components, time and mileage limits, exclusions and required follow-up. Assembly coverage and removal-and-reinstallation labor may differ.
What is the expected timeline?
Inspection findings, the work involved and parts or assembly availability affect timing.
Is related work worth considering?
If we find a leaking engine rear main seal while the transmission is removed, we can explain why addressing it at that time may avoid repeating the removal work later.
KNOW YOUR COVERAGE
Review the written warranty before choosing.
Qualifying rebuilds have a limited 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first. Extended warranty options are available, including 24 months / 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. Ask about the available coverage for your rebuild.
Replacement coverage depends on the selected assembly and supplier arrangement. Your selected warranty, covered work, exclusions, customer responsibilities and required follow-up are governed by your written warranty terms and invoice.
