SERVICE DETAILS

What Each Service Includes

Actual recommendations depend on the vehicle, inspection findings, parts availability and the work you authorize.

Transmission diagnostic inspection
01

Transmission Diagnostics

We begin by evaluating the symptoms instead of assuming the transmission needs major work. The goal is to identify the likely source and recommend the proper next step.

  • Computer scan for transmission-related trouble codes
  • Fluid level and condition review
  • Road test when safe and appropriate
  • Visual inspection for leaks or external concerns

The complimentary initial transmission inspection has restrictions. Additional testing or disassembly may require authorization and a separate charge.

Automatic transmission repair
02

Transmission Repair

A targeted repair may correct a specific leak, shifting concern, electrical problem or worn component without rebuilding the entire transmission.

  • Repair recommendation based on inspection findings
  • Clear explanation of the affected component
  • Price and authorization before added work begins
  • Written warranty information for qualifying work

The exact repair cannot be confirmed until the vehicle is inspected and the cause of the concern is identified.

Transmission rebuilding and internal components
03

Transmission Rebuilds

A rebuild involves removing and disassembling the transmission, inspecting internal components and replacing qualifying worn parts included in the authorized repair.

  • Internal disassembly and inspection
  • Replacement of qualifying rebuild components
  • Reassembly, installation and operational checks
  • Written limited warranty for qualifying rebuilds

Hard parts, electronics, programming, relearn procedures and other items are covered only when stated in the written estimate, invoice or full warranty.

Transmission replacement assembly
04

Transmission Replacement

Replacement may be recommended when repairing or rebuilding the existing transmission is not the best choice for the vehicle, condition, budget or available parts.

  • Used or recycled assembly options when available
  • Remanufactured assembly options when available
  • Removal and installation labor as quoted
  • Applicable supplier coverage explained before approval

Unit price, availability and warranty vary by vehicle and supplier. Exact coverage is stated in the written coverage summary and invoice.

Remanufactured automatic transmission
05

Remanufactured Units

A remanufactured transmission is rebuilt by a supplier to that supplier’s specifications and delivered as a replacement assembly. We select an available supplier for the vehicle application.

  • Supplier-built replacement transmission
  • Installation and required setup as quoted
  • Supplier coverage information provided in writing
  • TECHSPRO assists with qualifying warranty claims

Qualifying remanufactured assemblies include 36-month / 100,000-mile coverage, whichever occurs first. Included labor and excluded items depend on the selected supplier and written terms.

Transmission fluid and maintenance service components
06

Transmission Service

Transmission maintenance may include fluid, a filter, gaskets or related service items when appropriate for the specific vehicle and transmission.

  • Fluid condition and service needs reviewed
  • Correct fluid specification selected
  • Filter and gasket replacement when needed
  • Maintenance procedure based on the vehicle application

A fluid service is maintenance and cannot correct every internal mechanical, hydraulic or electronic problem.

Torque converter and transmission components
07

Torque-Converter Repair

The torque converter transfers engine power into an automatic transmission. Shuddering, slipping, overheating or unusual noise may involve the converter or another transmission-related condition.

  • Symptom and trouble-code evaluation
  • Road testing when safe and appropriate
  • Inspection for related transmission concerns
  • Repair recommendation based on findings

Similar symptoms can have different causes, so diagnosis is required before confirming a torque-converter repair.

Inspection of a transmission fluid leak
08

Transmission Leak Repair

We inspect the source of transmission-fluid loss before recommending a repair. The source may be a seal, gasket, line, pan or another component.

  • Visual inspection of the suspected leak area
  • Fluid level and condition check
  • Identification of the likely leaking component
  • Repair estimate before work begins

Low fluid can cause additional transmission damage. If a major leak is present, stop driving and contact the shop.

Computer scanning and road testing
09

Computer Scanning & Road Testing

A computer scan reads stored electronic trouble codes, while a road test helps us observe actual shifting behavior. We use both with the vehicle’s symptoms and other inspection findings.

  • Transmission and related system trouble-code scan
  • Review of relevant electronic information
  • Road test when the vehicle can be driven safely
  • Explanation of the recommended next step

A trouble code identifies an affected system or condition; it does not always identify the exact failed part by itself.
